About
About Tennessee Mini Splits
What Tennessee Mini Splits is
Tennessee Mini Splits is a specialty ductless heating and cooling installation company serving Middle Tennessee. The company installs Fujitsu mini-split systems exclusively, performs all installations with its own crew without subcontracting, and commits to documented commissioning standards on every job.
The business is structured around depth rather than breadth. Other HVAC contractors install mini-splits alongside central systems, ductwork, and general service work. Tennessee Mini Splits does not. Ductless installation is the entire scope of the business, and the operational decisions that follow from that commitment shape everything about how the company runs.
How the company came to exist
Tennessee Mini Splits was founded by Rich Ginn and James Vital after a personal mini-split installation at Rich's home turned into a recognition that the work they could do together was better than the work they had been able to hire out separately. The company was built around a specific premise: that ductless heating and cooling installation done at the standard the equipment deserves requires specialty focus rather than general-purpose HVAC capability.
What the company commits to
Tennessee Mini Splits operates around four commitments that shape every installation.
01
One service
The company installs ductless mini-split systems and does not perform other HVAC work. The decision is structural rather than incidental. Specialty focus produces depth of practice that general HVAC contractors cannot sustain while maintaining breadth across central systems, ductwork, and service work.
02
One product
The company installs Fujitsu equipment exclusively. Single-brand commitment produces deep familiarity with one system's specifications, control protocols, parts catalog, and service patterns rather than working knowledge spread across multiple manufacturers.
03
One crew
Installation work is performed by Tennessee Mini Splits employees. The company does not subcontract installation work to third-party crews. The people who quote an installation are the people who perform the installation.
04
One promise
Every installation receives the full commissioning protocol: pressure testing, vacuum to specification, charge verification, and documented record. The protocol applies to every job regardless of size or timeline.
Documented standards
Tennessee Mini Splits operates from documented installation standards rather than informal practice. The commissioning protocol, the documentation requirements, and the customer portal that stores installation records are codified company practices, not operator-dependent habits. Every installation produces a complete record of the work performed - time stamps, pressure readings, vacuum levels, refrigerant amounts, and photographs of key checkpoints - that remains accessible to the homeowner for the life of the system.

Rich and James
I'm Rich. My business partner is James. The roles in the company reflect what each of us brings to the work.
I oversee the operational side of Tennessee Mini Splits. Customer conversations, quoting, scheduling, documentation, and the technology that keeps the business organized. The work that happens before a job and after a job is built around the standards we set.
James oversees the installation side. The work in your home - equipment placement, lineset routing, brazing, commissioning - happens under his direction and to the standards he sets.
We've been friends for years before we built this business together. The partnership came out of that friendship, not the other way around. We work this way because it's the work we both want to do and the standards we both want to hold.
Service area and operating credentials
Tennessee Mini Splits is based in Franklin and serves homeowners across Middle Tennessee. The full list of counties served is on the Service Area page. The company operates under Tennessee contractor licensing, carries appropriate business insurance, and maintains the technician certifications required for refrigerant handling and electrical work.
The company is built for the long term. Service relationships extend beyond installation, with documentation accessible to homeowners as long as their systems are operating.
